USING SIDE IMAGING TO CATCH A BIG MUSKY

Have you ever looked out over the open water while on a muskie hunt and dreamed of having some kind of special power that would enable you to “see” exactly where the muskies are hiding? On many days, and especially when the bite is super tough, this kind of special power would be absolutely incredible! Well I am excited to tell you that in some ways, this dream of ours is starting to become a reality! With side imaging technology you can now literally SEE muskies, on either the port or starboard sides of the boat, while you are casting, trolling or simply scouting new water. Side imaging (SI) will allow you to locate muskies that are holding far away from the boat or it can show a deep-following musky coming into the figure-8 that would otherwise be extremely hard to detect. Regardless of the situation, side imaging gives you an advantage unlike any other technology in muskie fishing history because you can now locate muskies in places that you would normally would never have been able to before. In this video my good buddy, and long time musky hunting partner Mike Richardson and I, are casting a spot just before sunset when all of the sudden I spot a musky on my side imaging sonar screen. Because I was running the sonar at 70 ft, I was able to estimate the location of the musky at 40 ft away from the boat, and after only 3 casts…. I was hooked up with a “boat-tower!”
