We hope you're enjoying a fantastic summer and finding plenty of time to cast your lines. Fishing in the Minocqua area has been outstanding, with anglers reeling in a variety of species. Most fish have settled into their summer patterns, making deep weeds and weed lines prime spots for action.
Top Spots for Walleye and Bass Fishing in Minocqua
On lakes with basins, a significant number of walleyes and bass are found near deep humps and reefs, moving up and down throughout the day. Effective techniques for these areas include using Jigging Raps and live bait such as leeches, crawlers, redtail chubs, and walleye suckers. Drop shots and slip bobbers are also highly effective for targeting these fish.
Best Baits and Techniques for Muskie Fishing
For muskies in deep weeds or along the deep weed edge, top-performing baits include weighted Suicks, Paddle Tail Krakens, weighted Bobbie Baits, Bulldawgs, and Red October Tubes. Bucktails and surface baits are producing well, particularly at dusk and after dark. Suspended muskies are hitting soft plastics like Alpha Dawgs, Red October Tubes (Mid model), and Toothy Tuff baits. For these, you can count them down or fish without counting, aiming to keep your lure close to or above baitfish schools. Muskies will remain suspended, following baitfish until early fall when they move shallower. Recent reports highlight big muskies caught by anglers targeting suspended fish and deep weed lines, which have been the most productive spots over the past 2-3 weeks.
